The Republic of Cyprus issued a NAVTEX today, Sunday, January 19th, for the commencement of drilling in Block 5 of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Specifically, drilling will begin via the Valaris 9 drillship, which is already on site. The drilling and exploration efforts are being conducted by Exxon Mobil and Qatar Energy, following the issuance of two related NAVTEX notices by the Republic of Cyprus and the Larnaca station.
The target is the Electra gas field in Block 5 of the Cypriot EEZ.
The Republic of Cyprus is steadily advancing the exploitation of energy resources located in the wider region.
