The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condolences on Sunday to the families of the victims of the airplane crash in South Korea through a post on X.

“Profoundly saddened by the tragic incident involving the plane crash in South Korea. We extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time,” stated the announcement.

Shortly after 9 a.m. local time (2 a.m. Greek time) on Sunday, a Jeju Airlines plane attempted to land at Muan Airport in South Korea, arriving from Bangkok.

The aircraft failed to deploy its landing gear properly, resulting in a belly landing. It skidded until it collided with a wall and burst into flames, causing the deaths of 179 passengers. Only two people survived the crash.
