The prices of fish from Greek aquafarming nosedived last year, according to data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), mainly as a result of the choice of Greek companies, indeed leading ones – and no longer the Turkish ones – to lower prices on international markets.
This year, however, prices were set at higher levels, which helped prevent the worst for local market leader Avramar, whose fate has not yet been definitively decided.
Data also show a drop in fish farming facilities, largely related to the decision of Avramar’s management to discontinue the operation of several of its units for cost-cutting reasons.
