“The city of Thessaloniki, northern Greece, and the entire country bid farewell to an exceptional personality,” he stated, adding that Boutaris was a visionary mayor and iconic entrepreneur.
“Above all, he was a worthy citizen and a patriot of everyday life,” he stressed.
Mitsotakis also revealed that he met Boutaris shortly before the recent national election at his winery.
“I am proud to have been honored with his friendship, as his spirit always remained free from the confines of dogma and complexes. I realized this once again during our last meeting, unfortunately, shortly before the recent elections, when he hosted me at his renowned winery,” stated Mitsotakis.
“My sincere condolences to his family,” concluded the prime minister in his message.
