The Municipal Art Gallery of Athens in Metaxourgio (32 Mylerou) traces the artistic journey of Giannis Fokas, a key figure in contemporary Greek painting, from 1985 to today. Curated by art custodian Christoforos Marinos, it showcases Fokas’ early depictions of Parisian urban life through mixed-media techniques such as collage and spray paint. Known for his tactile approach, Fokas’ style has transitioned from aggressive expressionism to a more contemplative exploration of painting’s essence. Admission is free.
