A newborn baby was found dead Monday morning in an abandoned house in a settlement in Xanthi, northern Greece, authorities said. The circumstances surrounding the infant’s death are under investigation.
According to reports by public broadcaster ERT, the baby’s mother was arrested by the Xanthi Police Department’s Crime Investigation Unit and faces charges of exposing a minor to danger.
An autopsy is expected to be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
