A total of 100 migrants were rescued south of Crete in two separate operations on Monday.

A patrol boat from the EU border agency Frontex rescued 56 migrants from a vessel 23 nautical miles southeast of Kaloi Limenes in the Iraklio regional unit. The passengers were transported to a temporary reception facility in Iraklio.

In a separate operation, a rescue vessel picked up 44 people from a boat located 8 nautical miles off Psari Forada beach near Iraklio.

The rescues come after more than 220 migrants were saved in four separate incidents on Sunday.
