Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic was among the spectators at Friday night’s EuroLeague clash between Olympiacos and Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) in Athens.

The Serbian tennis great attended the meeting between the two traditionally close clubs, renewing his familiar connection with the basketball rivalry between the Piraeus and Belgrade sides.
Djokovic has regularly attended matches involving Olympiacos and Red Star, both in Belgrade and Athens. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has also established Athens as his base in recent times.

The game was played at the indoor arena of AEK Athens, rather than Olympiacos’ usual home venue, as renovation work continues at the Piraeus club’s stadium.

Djokovic’s appearance came after an earlier-than-expected end to his campaign at the Paris Masters, where he was eliminated in the second round, leaving him with time to attend the high-profile basketball encounter.
Red Star claim victory in Athens
Red Star secured a 62-57 victory over Olympiacos in a closely contested EuroLeague encounter.
The Serbian side produced a strong defensive performance to hold the hosts to 57 points, taking control of a game played in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Red Star finished with 41 rebounds compared with Olympiacos’ 36 and recorded 14 assists to the Greek club’s nine.
The Belgrade team also had the advantage from three-point range, converting seven of 21 attempts, while Olympiacos managed just five from 36 attempts.
Djokovic’s presence added another major sporting name to an encounter between two clubs whose supporters share a longstanding friendship.
