The Athens Medical Association (ISA) will award 14 scholarships to first-year university students from Athens who face financial difficulties studying away from home, following a unanimous decision by its board.
The initiative follows a proposal by ISA President Giorgos Patoulis and will provide two scholarships at each of seven universities across Greece. Each recipient will receive a one-off payment of €5,000, bringing the programme’s total budget to €70,000.
The association will select recipients according to strict social and financial criteria, following assessments and recommendations from the relevant authorities at the seven universities.
The ISA expects to begin the necessary procedures with the universities in the coming days so that it can implement the programme promptly.
