The Michelin Guide is expanding its coverage of Greece to strengthen the international profile of Greek gastronomy, with Thessaloniki and Santorini joining Athens in the 2027 selection.

The new Michelin Guide selection for Greece will be announced on October 20, 2026, and will feature the three destinations for the first time, expanding Greece’s gastronomic map.
The expansion forms part of the partnership between the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) and the Michelin Guide.
As announced in December 2025, the Michelin Guide’s independent and anonymous inspectors extended their research to Thessaloniki and Santorini, highlighting three distinct gastronomic identities across Athens, Thessaloniki and Santorini.
The Michelin Guide selection includes several distinctions, including one to three Michelin Stars, the Michelin Green Star for restaurants demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability, the Bib Gourmand for establishments offering particularly good value for money, and the Michelin Selected category.
GNTO Secretary General Andreas Fiorentinos said the partnership with the Michelin Guide is helping expand Greece’s gastronomic map and showcase the distinct culinary identities of its destinations.
He described the expansion to Thessaloniki and Santorini as an important development that brings two destinations with strong and distinctive gastronomic potential to the international stage.
“Gastronomy is an integral part of the tourism experience and an important element in differentiating Greek destinations,” Fiorentinos said.
He added that the partnership with the Michelin Guide strengthens the international presence of Greek gastronomy and showcases more aspects of Greece to travellers from around the world.
The 2027 Michelin Guide selection for Greece will be available from October 20 through the Michelin Guide’s digital platforms.
