Greece marks three years since the Hamas attack on Israel

Greece’s foreign ministry marked three years since the Hamas attack of 7 October 2023, which it called a heinous terrorist assault that killed hundreds of civilians and set off a dangerous escalation across the region.

The ministry said the return of the hostages was a relief and a decisive step toward a lasting settlement. It said a permanent ceasefire, and full implementation of the second phase of the 20-point peace plan for Gaza, remain urgent.

Athens said it supports humanitarian efforts and a return to the political process toward a two-state solution and the security of Israel, which it called the only viable path to a durable peace in the Middle East, in line with international law and the relevant UN resolutions.
