British-Cypriot businessman Sir Stelios Hadjiioannou has married his longtime partner Orla Murphy in an intimate civil ceremony in Monaco, surrounded by family and around 50 close guests.
The couple exchanged vows at Monaco City Hall on Saturday, marking the beginning of their marriage with a deliberately private celebration.
Hadjiioannou, best known as the founder of easyJet, has maintained a relatively low profile when it comes to his personal life. Murphy, originally from Ireland, has been by his side since 2018, when the couple welcomed their daughter.
Hadjiioannou’s sister, Klelia Hadjiioannou, and Murphy’s brother served as witnesses at the ceremony.
The wedding celebrations continued with a reception at Villa La Vigie, the historic Monaco mansion once famously associated with fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Built in 1902 by Sir William Ingram, the villa sits above the Mediterranean at the edge of the bay near the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel. It later became one of Lagerfeld’s favourite residences in Monaco, where he spent 10 consecutive summers during the 1990s.
Murphy looked elegant in a simple and sophisticated wedding dress for the ceremony.
Born in Ireland, she studied Equine Science at the University of Limerick before moving to Monaco in 2008. She later worked in sales for Boutsen Design, a company specialising in interiors for yachts and private aircraft.
Hadjiioannou and Murphy welcomed their daughter in 2018 and have since divided their time between destinations including Athens, the Greek island of Spetses, London and St Barts in the Caribbean.
The wedding came just days after Hadjiioannou hosted a charity evening in Monaco attended by Prince Albert II. Proceeds from the event were donated to WWF in support of environmental protection initiatives linked to the Stelios Foundation.
The couple kept the wedding celebration deliberately small, with close family and friends joining them for what was described as an understated Monaco ceremony followed by an exclusive reception at one of the principality’s most historic villas.
