Questions surrounding the estate of the late Giorgos Mazonakis have intensified, with long-time friend Bob Dimitrov now at the centre of speculation over whether the singer left him part of his fortune.
However, there is currently no public evidence confirming that Dimitrov is an heir or that Mazonakis left him any assets.
Dimitrov was one of the singer’s closest friends and was part of his inner circle for many years. Their long-standing relationship has fuelled speculation that Mazonakis may have made provisions for him in a will.
But friendship alone does not establish an inheritance claim.
The safe and the unanswered questions
Attention has also focused on a safe reportedly found at Mazonakis’ home in Voula and seized by authorities as part of the investigation into his death.
Reports have raised the possibility that the safe could contain documents, including a handwritten will. However, this has not been publicly confirmed.
Other reports have claimed that Mazonakis did not leave a will at all, leaving unanswered questions over how his estate will ultimately be distributed.
Until any legal documents are verified, it cannot be established whether a will exists, what it contains or whether Dimitrov is named in it.
“George marked my life”
Dimitrov has spoken publicly about the loss of his friend, but his comments have made no reference to inheritance, property or a will.
In a social media post following Mazonakis’ death, Dimitrov said he was struggling to accept that his friend was gone and thanked the thousands of people who had contacted him.
He wrote:
“George marked my life and his absence is something I still have difficulty realising.”
Dimitrov said he had received more than 2,500 messages of support and, despite being unable to respond to everyone individually, had read the messages and appreciated the love shown to him.
Emotional appearance during The Voice tribute
Dimitrov was also behind the scenes during the October 3 tribute to Mazonakis on The Voice.
As performers sang some of Mazonakis’ best-known songs and archive footage of the late singer was shown, Dimitrov was visibly emotional.
Images from backstage showed him wiping away tears as he watched the tribute.
His reaction highlighted the depth of a friendship that had lasted for many years and extended well beyond Mazonakis’ professional career.
For now, however, the question of whether Bob Dimitrov will inherit any part of Giorgos Mazonakis’ estate remains unanswered.
Any claim about an inheritance will ultimately depend on verified legal documents and the formal succession process, rather than speculation surrounding the singer’s personal relationships.
