32nd Athens International Film Festival — 1–11 October
Independent films, including dramas and war documentaries, plus short-film competitions with premieres and first screenings. Venues include Cinobo Opera, Danaos and Astor. Tickets via more.com.

11th Hellenic Yoga Festival — 3–4 October The Hellenic Yoga Association’s weekend returns to ART 63: open classes, workshops, talks and an exhibition floor for teachers, schools and anyone starting out. Organisers expect more than 1,000 visitors. One ticket covers the programme.

Ostracism — Ostrako II — 1 October to December
Forty contemporary artists at the Epigraphic Museum, shown with the clay shards Athenians used to vote people into exile. The show links that practice to cancelling, blocking and digital isolation.

A Different Europe — Takis Tloupas — 2–30 October
Photographs from the Thessalian photographer’s trips through Italy, France, Austria and Germany in the 1950s and 1960s, many shown for the first time. He left Larissa in 1953. Curated by his daughter, Vania Tloupa, with personal objects and archive material.

Change Makers IV, Vogue Greece — 3 October

Deep Purple — 13 October
Deep Purple play the Olympic Sports Complex in Marousi, with UK band Jayler opening. The set is built around the catalogue: Highway Star, Smoke on the Water, Child in Time, plus Perfect Strangers and Woman from Tokyo.

Oxi Day — 28 October
The national holiday marking Greece’s “No” to Mussolini in 1940. The main parade passes Syntagma from 11am: students, clubs and bands. Arrive early. State museums, archaeological sites and monuments are free that day.

Anyma presents ÆDEN — 31 October
Matteo Milleri’s live electronic show ÆDEN comes to Greece for the first time, after its Coachella premiere, at OAKA’s Wall of Nations in Marousi. Music, digital art and a large-scale production.
