An EKAB ambulance subsequently arrived and transported the singer to the nearest on-duty hospital, Elpis Hospital in Athens.
Mazonakis arrived at the hospital at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Doctors continued desperate resuscitation efforts
When Mazonakis arrived at Elpis Hospital, he was reportedly without spontaneous breathing and without a pulse.
Medical staff immediately continued CPR in accordance with the appropriate emergency protocol.
Doctors continued their efforts to revive him, but the resuscitation attempt was unsuccessful.
According to the hospital’s official statement, Giorgos Mazonakis was formally pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m.
The hospital said:
“On 9/9/2026 at 4:45 p.m., Giorgos Mazonakis, born in 1972, was transferred by EKAB ambulance without spontaneous breathing and without a pulse.”
The statement added that cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed according to protocol, without a successful outcome.
