The strategy for developing new cruise destinations in Greece, with an emphasis on island communities, port infrastructure, and the more effective use of revenues from the cruise tax, was the subject of a meeting held in Athens this week by the Cruise Lines International Association, in cooperation with Deputy Foreign Minister Haris Theoharis.
The meeting brought together representatives of the Greek government, Parliament, port and tourism bodies, as well as executives from Celestyal and MSC Cruises, with the main goal of shaping a more balanced model for cruise tourism development in Greece.

Talks focused on the need to relieve overcrowded destinations and promote new cruise ports in island and mainland areas through better planning, investment, and coordination between the state, local communities, and cruise companies.
