Rush for ‘My Home’ candidates

Rush for ‘My Home’ candidates

[InTime News]

An estimated 3,500 prospective borrowers are waiting to join the “My Home 2” subsidy program, within the one-month deadline set by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance.

The new deadline has been set for June 2, instead of the original one on August 30, bringing forward the time for the program to end by approximately three months for 3,500 households who will have to complete the property purchase process within 30 days in order to benefit from the interest rate subsidy.

Kathimerini data show, of these 3,500, just 10%, or 350 to 400 prospective borrowers, have already signed a contract with the buyer and their inclusion in the program is considered almost guaranteed. The big question is the remaining 3,100, who, while they have found the house they are interested in and have agreed at least verbally with the seller of the property, have not yet signed a contract and therefore have not received final approval from the bank.

This category of households should expedite the process in order not to be excluded from the program and lose the dream of acquiring their first home with a cheap interest rate, subsidized by 50%.
