
The Greek Finance Ministry and the Bank of Greece opened on Monday the informal two-day Economic and Financial Committee meetings at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, the first time the committee has met in Athens in 20 years.
Participants include high-level representatives of European Union member-states, the European Commission, the European Central Bank, and other European institutions. The advisory body is responsible for promoting the coordination of member-states’ policies that support the functioning of the single market.
The schedule includes a dinner with welcoming remarks by Deputy Finance Minister Thanos Petralias and Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras. Finance Minister and Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis delivered welcoming remarks, underlining the importance of coordination and cooperation among member-states amid increased challenges.
