The National Public Health Organization (EODY) reported three leptospirosis cases in Zakynthos in April, confirming one death, one recovery and one hospitalization.
The cases involve a 74‑year‑old man who died, a 21‑year‑old who has fully recovered, and a 34‑year‑old in stable condition.
Officials said the incidents show no epidemiological link, noting the patients live in different areas.
Zakynthos records higher leptospirosis frequency, with recent storms aiding pathogen spread. Health teams will investigate and inform residents, urging strict hygiene and medical consultation for symptoms.
