Rural Development Minister Kostas Tsiaras, Civil Protection Minister Ioannis Kefalogiannis and Deputy Health Minister Dimitris Vartzopoulos have resigned.
The government said it will announce a reshuffle at 12:30 p.m.
The three officials were named in the European prosecutors’ investigation into the farm subsidies scandal plaguing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ conservative government. The investigation also names the governing New Democracy party’s secretary, Kostas Skrekas.
Sources indicated that former European Commissioner Margaritis Schinas is expected to replace Tsiaras, and Evangelos Tournas will take Kefalogiannis’ position.
The scandal hinges on alleged fraud in payments by the now-defunct state OPEKEPE agricultural subsidies agency that handled European Union funds.
The investigation files that name 11 ND lawmakers were forwarded to Parliament Friday. The House will decide on whether to lift their immunity from prosecution.
