Athens International Airport (AIA) has announced an accelerated investment plan to expand its capacity, aiming to serve 33 million passengers annually ahead of schedule and 40 million by 2032.
In 2024, AIA reported a 10.2% revenue increase (€665.5M), a 15.7% rise in EBITDA (€424.8M), and net profits of €235.9M (+1.9%). Passenger traffic hit a record 31.85 million (+13.1%), surpassing many major European airports.
To fund expansion, AIA will raise up to €240M, including a €100M Scrip Dividend program allowing shareholders to reinvest dividends in shares. Major shareholders, including AviAlliance (50%) and the Greek state (25.5%), are expected to participate.
The airport’s commercial operations saw high demand, with a 99% occupancy rate across 157 retail, dining, and service stores. Additionally, AIA manages a 52,100 square meter commercial park featuring major brands like IKEA, Leroy Merlin, Factory Outlet, Kotsovolos, Plaisio, Intersport, and Holland & Barrett.
