The government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, announced during the regular briefing of political editors that the parliamentary discussion on the Tempe railway disaster will take place on March 4-5.
On March 4, Parliament will discuss the proposal for the establishment of a preliminary investigative committee regarding Christos Triantopoulos and his alleged involvement in the handling of the Tempe crash site.
As deputy minister to the prime minister at the time, Triantopoulos has been accused by victims’ families of allegedly tampering with evidence related to the train collision by ordering the clearing and landfilling of the accident site before a thorough investigation could be conducted.
A day later, on Wednesday, March 5, a broader parliamentary discussion on the Tempe railway disaster will be held.
Opposition parties have discussed the possibility of submitting a motion of no confidence against the government over the Tempe issue, should new evidence emerge.
Regarding the death of Vasilis Kalogirou, Marinakis stated that he does not wish to comment on the statements made by his mother or on the possibility of foul play in his death.
“I do not want to comment or say anything. And I cannot know what she meant or intended to say. I believe it is a human matter. It has nothing to do with the professional identity or the role of the mother,” Marinakis said.
