Pole vaulter Emmanouil Karalis delighted fans on Friday by jumping 5.94 m on his second attempt, setting a new Greek indoor record, at the ISTAF Indoor meet in Berlin.
With his performance, the leading Greek pole vaulter improved his own national indoor record by 2 cm, which he had set last Saturday in Lodz, Poland.
The Paris Olympics bronze medalist then attempted, but failed, to clear 6.02 m.
Armand Duplantis set a new meeting record on his return from a winter break by jumping 6.10 meters.
The Swedish star attempted to beat his own world outdoor record set in Chorzów, Poland, last August with two attempts at 6.27, but it was too high this time for the 25-year-old who broke the outdoor record three times last year. [AP]
