When Chrysi Vardinogianni married Prince Nikolaos of Greece, she wore a stunning and historically significant Greek tiara.
Chrysi chose the Antique Corsage Tiara, a beautiful piece adorned with diamonds and pearls, which her new mother-in-law, Queen Anne-Marie, graciously loaned to her.
Originally a brooch featuring pearls and diamonds from Baden, the piece was passed down through generations, starting with Grand Duchess Louise, who gifted it to her daughter, Queen Victoria of Sweden. Queen Victoria’s granddaughter, Queen Ingrid of Denmark, later inherited it and had the brooch transformed into a tiara for her youngest child’s 18th birthday and wedding. Queen Anne-Marie, the recipient of this new diadem, has kept it within the Greek Royal Family ever since.
This tiara is no stranger to Greek royal weddings, having been worn by several royal brides before Chrysi, including Prince Nikolaos’s first wife, Tatiana. Crown Princess Marie-Chantal and Princess Nina also wore the tiara on their wedding days to Crown Prince Pavlos and Prince Philippos, respectively.
Queen Anne-Marie has also shared the Antique Corsage Tiara with her daughters, Princess Alexia and Princess Theodora.
