The Derby of Eternal Rivals on Sunday for the Super League had exactly the same result as their Greek Cup encounter 11 days earlier, as Olympiakos and Panathinaikos ended up with a 1-1 draw at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.
As early as the 14th minute, Brazilian Rodinei crossed the ball from the left to the area and Angolan David Carmo sent the ball – as well as defender Willian Arao – into the net for 1-0. However, the Reds were left with 10 men due to a straight red to Costinha at the end of the first half.
Just under an hour after scoring, Carmo stepped on Fotis Ioannidis’ foot inside the box, and Ioannidis coolly beat keeper Konstantis Tzolakis from the penalty spot to equalize for the Greens.
Panathinaikos also finished the game with 10 men due to a second yellow card shown to Sverrir Ingi Ingason in injury time.
AEK has moved back up to joint second now thanks to its 1-0 home win over Panetolikos on Saturday. Anthony Martial did the honors on the night.
PAOK had to wait until the 82nd minute to break the deadlock against lowly Levadiakos, but Mady Camara found a way through the visitors’ defense to give the hosts three points.
Asteras Tripolis made it five wins in a row, beating Athens Kallithea 1-0 at home on Saturday, but Aris matched the Tripoli side again with a 2-0 win at bottom team Lamia on Sunday thanks to a Loren Moron brace.
In other games, Atromitos won 1-0 at Volos and OFI outscored Panserraikos 3-2.
Olympiakos climbed to 44 points, AEK and Panathinaikos are on 40, PAOK reached 39, and Asteras is tied with Aris on 31
