Ayoub El Kaabi was on target for Olympiakos once again [Intime].
A great night in Europe for Greek soccer on Thursday saw Olympiakos beat Porto 1-0 in Portugal and PAOK defeat Slavia Prague 2-0 in Thessaloniki for the league phase of the Europa League.
Olympiakos triumphed at the Dragao Stadium, making the most of the crisis that coachless Porto has found itself in.
The Conference League holder played a smart game at Oporto and gave the hosts the chance to create more but without going past the Greek defense, while the Piraeus team snatched the opportunity from a counter from the left: Christos Mouzakitis crossed to Ayoub El Kaabi and he sent his long-range shot into the Porto net with 12 minutes to go.
The Reds now have a chance to make it into to the top eight of the table, having 12 points from seven games and one more to play.
PAOK also gained precious ground with its 2-0 home win over Slavia at Toumba.
Stefan Schwab gave the host the lead on the 26th from the penalty spot, and Giannis Konstantelias doubled PAOK’s advantage on the 56th.
The Thessaloniki team is now on 10 points from seven games and is hoping it can enter the top-24 that leads to the playoffs of the competition.
In the final round of games next Thursday Olympiakos will host Karabakh from Azerbaijan and PAOK will visit Real Sociedad in Spain.
