
The Hellenic Police have solved the murder of a 23-year-old Afghan man, which took place in the early hours of July 11, 2024, in central Athens. A case file has been filed against a 35-year-old compatriot of the victim, who is currently being sought on charges of premeditated murder.
In the early hours of July 11, the 23-year-old was transported to a hospital with injuries initially attributed to a motorcycle accident. However, the injured man succumbed to his injuries on July 21.
According to the police, a post-mortem examination revealed that the victim’s death was caused by a head injury inflicted with an object.
The investigation, led by the Northeast Attica Crime Investigation and Solving Subdivision, established that the 35-year-old met with the victim in the early hours of July 11 in an area of central Athens. During the meeting, due to personal differences, the suspect inflicted severe head injuries on the victim using an object.
The case file has been submitted to the competent prosecutorial authority and efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing.
