Residents have raised concerns about the illegal expansion of the Holargos Tennis Club in northern Athens into the forested Ymittos area.
The municipality confirms the expansion but denies any tree cutting. The club maintains that the extension is within its allocated space, granted by the city since 1987, and aimed at creating a safer environment for young athletes.
However, the local mayor has acknowledged that the expansion was not officially sanctioned, even though it was intended for safety and functionality.
The Penteli Forest Authority will investigate these allegations.
The area has been earmarked for public use, and its ownership is still under dispute.
