Stores and supermarkets across Greece will reopen on Friday, following their customary closure on January 2 to conduct annual inventory.
They will remain closed again on Sunday and Monday for the Epiphany holiday but will resume regular operations on Tuesday.
Moreover, the winter sales are set to begin on Monday, January 13 and will run until Friday, February 28.
According to the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEP), this year’s holiday market performance was deemed satisfactory. Preliminary data through New Year’s Eve indicate an average annual increase of approximately 6% in holiday market turnover.
Based on early projections from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), EBEP estimates that the retail market’s total turnover surpassed €4 billion in December.
