A 34-year-old man was fatally injured on New Year’s Day in Serres, northern Greece, following an altercation in a central area of the city.
According to public broadcaster ERT, the man’s death was caused by a stabbing, although local residents reported hearing gunshots.
It is believed that at least four individuals were involved in the brawl, which broke out around 5 a.m. on the Macedonian city’s main pedestrian street.
After the altercation, the man was transported to the hospital, where his death was confirmed.
No arrests have been made so far, while police continue to investigate the incident.
