Erdogan holds private meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, spiritual leader of the Eastern Orthodox Christians worldwide, in Ankara on Thursday.

The meeting took place at the presidential palace behind closed doors, without media access. No details have yet been disclosed about the topics discussed.

On Wednesday, Erdogan extended his Christmas greetings to Christians, wishing them peace and happiness.

“On the occasion of Christmas, I extend my best wishes to our citizens who follow the Christian faith,” Erdogan said in a statement released by the Turkish Directorate of Communications.
