Third-quarter growth at 2.4%, ELSTAT says

The Greek economy grew by 2.4% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same quarter of 2023, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

At the same time, GDP increased by 0.3% compared to the second quarter of this year. The 2.4% GDP increase came from the following changes: Total final consumer spending increased by 1.3% (household consumption increased by 2.1% and that of the general government decreased by 1.4%); private investment (gross fixed capital formation) increased by 0.3%; exports of goods and services increased by 3.3% (exports of goods increased by 1.2%, while exports of services increased by 5.1%); and imports of goods and services increased by 4.2% (imports of goods increased by 2.3% and imports of services increased by 12.5%).

On a quarterly basis, total final consumption expenditure increased by 0.1% (household consumption increased by 0.1% and that of the general government decreased by 0.9%). Private investment (gross fixed capital formation) decreased by 1.1%. Exports of goods and services increased by 0.9% (exports of goods decreased by 0.2%, while exports of services increased by 1.3%). Imports of goods and services decreased by 0.9% (imports of goods decreased by 2.1%, while imports of services increased by 3.9%).
