Three of Greece’s top trap artists, Snik, Toquel and Rack, were summoned by the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV) for a hearing on controversial content.
The rappers, along with their record labels – Capital Music, Alphapop Records and Mad House Records – are under investigation for violating Law 4779/2021, which prohibits content that may harm minors’ moral development or incite violence and hate.
The NCRTV, responsible for regulating audiovisual material, flagged their lyrics and music videos for promoting drug use, violence and a gangster lifestyle.
The musicians argue their work is artistic expression, but critics claim they glorify criminal behavior. Legal representatives secured a postponement until December 9 to prepare their defense.
Potential penalties include hefty fines up to €500,000 and possible bans on platforms like YouTube.
The case raises questions about freedom of expression and whether online platforms enforce content guidelines consistently.
