A light earthquake measuring 4.4 Magnitude jolted the island of Amorgos shortly after 1.30 p.m.

According to Athens National Observatory’s Geodynamics Institute, the quake’s epicenter was located 15 km southwest of Arkesini, in the island’s south, and 225 km southeast of Athens.

The wider area around Santorini and Amorgos has been shaken by tens of thousands of mild quakes since late January, forcing thousands of people to flee, and authorities to ban construction activity, and shut schools and nearby islands.
