Metlen eyes more expansion

Metlen is set to announce two more investment moves at Capital Markets Day (CMD), to be held at the LSE premises in London on April 28, and will mark the start of its third-in-a-row – since 2017 – transformation, code-named “Big 3,” the Athens-listed company’s head Evangelos Mytilineos announced during the presentation of the 2024 financial results to analysts last week.

“You will have to wait until the presentation in London and you will understand why we need more time to be more precise in our announcements,” said Mytilineos, clarifying, however, that these new investment moves will certainly include the metals side, but not the alumina side, the capacity of which, as he said, has reached its limits.

He estimated that the company’s EBITDA will exceed 2 billion euros in 2028, without mergers or acquisitions, while noting that there may be a significant merger or acquisition in the future that will raise its fundamentals considerably.

Asked about the recent dual strategic agreement with Rio Tinto, he noted that “the supply of bauxite is secured, which has become perhaps the most important issue in the aluminum supply chain.”
