Accusing Europe of a lack of resolve is the done thing nowadays. It appears, however, that under pressure from the new administration in Washington, the European Union is starting to stir from its slumbers.
The exemption of defense spending from the terms of the Stability and Growth Pact is a serious first step, especially for countries like Greece that have to spend an inordinate amount of money on defense.
The next step will have to be toward a common defense industry, without “partnerships” and exchanges with non-EU countries that do not uphold international law.
