A 40-year-old man serving a life sentence for the murder of his pregnant partner in Thessaloniki last year has been handed an additional 30-month prison sentence for a separate domestic violence incident involving his sister.
The man, sentenced in absentia, reportedly used a knife to threaten and attack his sister while demanding €250. A Thessaloniki court found him guilty of attempted extortion, domestic physical harm, making threats, and illegal possession and use of a weapon.
Although the court ruled that the sentence must be served in full, it granted a stay of execution pending his appeal.
During her testimony, the sister described the attack, which occurred in February, 2021, as part of a series of violent incidents perpetrated by her brother.
In November, the 40-year-old, along with a 35-year old accomplice, was sentenced by an Edessa court to life imprisonment plus an additional 15 years for the murder of his 41-year-old pregnant partner.
The woman’s body was discovered in a trunk in a remote area on the border between the Thessaloniki and Halkidiki prefectures in northern Greece. [AMNA]
