Rural Development and Food Minister Margaritis Schinas, and his Cypriot counterpart Maria Panayiotou, agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation to address the veterinary crisis of foot-and-mouth disease during their meeting.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, both sides emphasized the need for closer coordination between the relevant authorities in Greece and Cyprus, based on the common European framework, with the aim of limiting the spread of and eradicating the disease.
They also agreed to strengthen cooperation between veterinary services and scientific teams at the technical level to monitor the progression of the disease more effectively.The two ministers also discussed support for the livestock sector.
