A 13-year-old student was hospitalized in critical condition Monday after falling from a first-floor balcony at a school in the Athens suburb of Haidari, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. at the 7th Middle School of Haidari.
The girl was initially taken by ambulance to Attikon Hospital and later transferred to Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital, where she is being treated in intensive care and remains intubated.
According to witness accounts, the student had been sitting on the balcony railing and was rocking back and forth before losing her balance and falling.
