AEK is the big favorite to win the Super League title and only Olympiakos can prevent it, after Sunday’s playoff games that saw these two score precious wins.
The Yellows remain five points ahead of the Reds thanks to their 3-0 triumph over PAOK in Athens, courtesy of an own goal by Tomasz Kedziora in the first half and two strikes from Aboubakary Koita and Orbelin Pineda in the second.
In what was probably the last Derby of the Eternal Rivals ever played at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium, Olympiakos defeated host Panathinaikos 2-0, goals coming from Gelson Martins and Rodinei in the last 10 minutes of the first half.
With four rounds of games left to play, AEK has 66 points, Olympiakos is on 61, PAOK stayed on 58 and Panathinaikos on 50.
In the 5-8 playoffs, OFI downed Levadiakos 2-0 and Aris shared a 1-1 draw with Volos, so OFI is now two points behind Levadiakos that holds the last spot leading to Europe,
As for the play-outs, Panserraikos has climbed out of the drop zone after several months, courtesy of its crucial 3-2 victory at Panetolikos. Larissa has now dropped into the danger zone after going down 3-2 at Atromitos and is also approached to one point by bottom team Asteras Tripolis that drew 0-0 at Kifissia.
Next Saturday sees the Greek Cup final at Volos, pitting PAOK against OFI.
