Greece celebrated the International Day for Monuments and Sites Saturday, throwing open the gates of the Acropolis and hundreds of archaeological sites and museums – free of charge. Established by UNESCO and ICOMOS following a 1982 Tunisia symposium, the global observance spotlights cultural heritage preservation.
