Hollywood stars of Greek origin, including actress and singer Rita Wilson with her husband, actor Tom Hanks, Nia Vardalos and Melina Kanakaredes carried the Epitaphios during the traditional procession in Los Angeles on Orthodox Good Friday.
In photos posted on Instagram by Kanakaredes, the actors are seen heading the solemn procession following the service at the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Los Angeles.
“I hope everyone who celebrated Orthodox Easter yesterday, had an amazing and joyous day! This year’s celebration was extraordinarily special – all throughout Holy Week – the unbelievable honor of carrying the Kouvouklion/Epetaphios on Holy Friday – the beautiful services @saintsophiacathedral_la,” the actress wrote on a post on Monday.
