Scientists Reassure the Public that A rare and concerning phenomenon has been observed in Turkey, with some experts linking it to the seismic and volcanic activities following the natural events that have unfolded in Santorini.<\/h2>\n

There has been an unusually large retreat of the seas.<\/p>\n

The sea receded by 200 meters in Seferihisar, Izmir, and by 150 meters in Silivri, Istanbul. The public attributed the incident to the frequent earthquakes occurring in recent days. However, experts reassured those in panic, stating: \u201cThis is a meteorological event.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the Seferihisar region of Izmir, the sea water receded approximately 200 meters from the shore, forming islands where the water withdrew.<\/p>\n

Dr. Do\u011fan Ya\u015far stated that the retreat is not related to the earthquakes in the Aegean Sea, explaining: \u201cThere has been a tremendous north windstorm since Tuesday. This wind, with speeds of 60-70 kilometers per hour, gathered the water and pushed it south, towards Crete. For this reason, the water level dropped. Once the northern wind subsides, the water level will return to its previous state,\u201d he said.\u201d<\/p>\n
