Seismic activity continues in the underwater area between Santorini and Amorgos, with the strongest tremor recorded so far occurring on the evening of February 4th.<\/h2>\n

According to the Geodynamic Institute<\/a>, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck at 21:09 local time, with an epicentre 16 kilometres south of Amorgos and a focal depth of 11.2 kilometres.<\/p>\n

Experts Weigh Possible Scenarios<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Seismologists analyzing the ongoing tremors suggest that a major earthquake exceeding 6.0 on the Richter scale is unlikely. Three possible scenarios are currently being considered:<\/p>\n

  1. The most probable outcome is that smaller tremors will persist for several weeks.<\/li>\n
  2. A moderate earthquake of up to 5.5 magnitude could still occur.<\/li>\n
  3. A stronger event reaching 6.0 magnitude remains the least likely scenario.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Over 6,400 Tremors in Nine Days<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The Interdisciplinary Committee for Risk and Crisis Management of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) reports that from January 26 to February 3, more than 6,400 earthquakes have been recorded in the Santorini-Amorgos seismic zone.<\/p>\n

    Authorities and experts continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents and visitors to remain informed but not alarmed.<\/p>\n
