This morning, an ecumenical church service was held at St. Christopher\u2019s Cathedral in Canberra to inaugurate the new parliamentary year.<\/h2>\n

Hosted by the Catholic Church and led by Archbishop His Grace Father Christopher Prowse, the service brought together political leaders, clergy, and community members in a moment of reflection and prayer for guidance and unity in the year ahead.<\/p>\n

His Grace Bishop Christodoulos and John Loukadellis, President of the Greek Orthodox Community & Church of Canberra, represented the Greek Orthodox Church. Loukadellis, who also serves as the Director of the Hellenic Initiative of Australia, joined other faith leaders in offering prayers for the nation and its leadership.<\/p>\n

Many distinguished guests attended the service, including Governor-General of Australia Samantha Mostyn, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, alongside numerous honorary parliamentarians.<\/p>\n

Several ambassadors, including the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Antonis Sammoutis, and the Lebanese Ambassador, Mr. Milad Raad, were also in attendance. Steve Georganas MP, of Greek Australian origin, was also present, further highlighting the strong representation of the Greek community at this significant interfaith gathering.<\/p>\n
