December recorded a net loan increase of 503.2 million euros, while total deposits climbed by an impressive \u20ac977.4 million \u2013 a significant jump compared to previous months.<\/p>\n<p>The loans market bounced back after a sluggish November, when lending had dipped by \u20ac1.8 million. With December\u2019s upswing, the annual growth rate of total loans accelerated to 2.8%, up from 1.9% in November, bringing outstanding loans to \u20ac25.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>A closer look at the numbers shows that loans to Cyprus residents increased by \u20ac150.7 million. Households borrowed \u20ac111.3 million, while businesses \u2013 classified as non-financial corporations \u2013 secured \u20ac111.4 million in new loans. Other domestic sectors, however, saw a reduction in borrowing, with a net decrease of \u20ac72 million.<\/p>\n<p>On the deposit side, December\u2019s nearly \u20ac1 billion increase far outpaced the modest \u20ac91.6 million rise seen in November.
