<\/strong>Greek architect Eleni Kalapoda says she served as a sustainability expert on a 2026 RIBA Awards jury that assessed Lion Green Road, the housing scheme that went on to win the 2026 RIBA Stirling Prize.<\/p>\n

Lion Green Road was named winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize<\/a>, the UK\u2019s most prestigious architecture award, on 15 October 2026 at Old Billingsgate in London, in the prize\u2019s 30th anniversary year. Designed by Mary Duggan Architects with RUFF Architects for Croydon Council and Brick by Brick, the Coulsdon, South London scheme provides 157 homes in five blocks on a former car park, across a site that drops eight metres.<\/p>\n

From the SNFCC to New York<\/h3>\n

According to Kalapoda, her early career included collaborating with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop team on the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens. She went on to work with Foster + Partners in London, including on the KSIA project, and with Perkins Eastman in New York, on Resorts World and a landmark adaptive reuse project.<\/p>\n

She says she is a 2026 Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation Emerging Leaders Fellow in New York and sat on the Grand Jury of the FRAME Awards 2026, where Sydney Fish Market was shortlisted. She has also served on WAN Awards juries, sits on the Autodesk Advisory Council for 2025-27, was a WICE Women in Architecture finalist, and is an ARB-registered architect and AIA Associate.<\/p>\n

Kalapoda writes for Australian Design Review\u2019s \u201cThe Podium\u201d column. Her other writing includes an op-ed for HuffPost Greece in February 2026 and \u201cLeadership Across Borders: Mentorship and Artificial Intelligence\u201d for Oculus, the AIA New York journal, in Summer 2025. She was also interviewed by Neos Kosmos in March 2026.<\/p>\n

She says she will return to London in early 2027.<\/p>\n
