Last November marked a record-breaking month for Greek tourism, with average spending up by 20.9%, total spending up by 44.7%, and arrivals increasing by 23.6% compared to the same month in the previous year.<\/p>\n
Travelers from the UK and the US led the surge in November, 2024, exceeding 200,000 visitors, a significant rise compared to the same month in 2023. Visitors from the UK increased by 88.5%, reaching 98,400, while travelers from the US rose by 9.9%, totaling 111,100.<\/p>\n
Spending by UK and US visitors also surged, accounting for nearly \u20ac160 million of the \u20ac617 million in total tourism revenue for the month. Spending by UK visitors skyrocketed by 157.5% year-on-year in November to \u20ac46.4 million, while spending by US travelers increased by 78.2% to \u20ac112.8 million.<\/p>\n
This data highlights a significant shift in travel behavior, as travelers increasingly choose to visit destinations like Greece in winter, which were traditionally popular only during summer. Athens, in particular, is gaining recognition as a year-round destination, rather than merely a stopover on the way to the islands.<\/p>\n
Noteworthy increases were also recorded among French travelers in November, with spending rising by 94.7% to \u20ac20.7 million, driven by a 37.2% increase in arrivals, which reached 38,200.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, spending by German travelers fell by 15.3% in November, following a 20.4% decline in arrivals, which dropped to 109,500.<\/p>\n
Tourism officials also expect robust figures for December, 2024.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
