class="wp-block-paragraph">“I invite all Bulgarians on October 3, Saturday, at 12:30 pm, to Battenberg Square in front of the Royal Palace, to welcome together the remains and pay tribute to Bulgarian Empire from 997 until his death in 1014.

He is a major figure in Bulgarian history and is particularly associated with the long Byzantine Bulgarian wars of the late 10th and early 11th centuries.

Samuel died after the Battle of Kleidion in 1014, a major confrontation between the forces of the Bulgarian Empire and Byzantine Emperor Basil II.

According to historical accounts, Samuel’s remains were later discovered in the Prespa region.

The reported agreement now opens the way for the remains to be returned to Bulgaria following negotiations between Sofia and Athens.

The announcement is expected to draw significant public attention in Bulgaria, given Samuel’s importance in the country’s medieval history.

<p
