Underlying inflation is still above the bank\u2019s target band.<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the fourth increase. On an average <strong>$730,000<\/strong> mortgage, repayments are now about <strong>$480 a month<\/strong> higher than in January \u2014 more than <strong>$5,000 a year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AMP chief economist Shane Oliver put the chance of a recession at <strong>35 per cent<\/strong>. He said two or three more hikes \u2014 one by year\u2019s end and another early next year \u2014 would risk overkill in an economy that is already slowing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Treasurer Jim Chalmers has blamed dear oil and the Middle East war for sticky prices.
